Gaming Never Looked So Good-- GEN CON Indy 2004North America's Largest Annual Consumer Game Convention SEATTLE, Washington (April 20, 2004) - Gaming enthusiasts worldwide are marking their calendars for the much-anticipated Gen Con Indy, the largest consumer hobby game convention in North America. With more than 25,000 attendees each year and more new-product introductions than any other game convention in the U.S., Gen Con is THE place where consumers, game manufactures, and vendors get together to experience the latest and greatest in the gaming industry, along with time-honored classics. This year marks the 37th year of the annual event which is slated for August 19-22 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. "Each year the convention gets better and better, building upon the enthusiasm of the attendees and exhibitors to create an experience that exceeds expectations," said Peter Adkinson, CEO of Gen Con, LLC. "This year, we anticipate not only record attendance but a fantastic show as well for the Best Four Days of Gaming!" At Gen Con gaming enthusiasts don't simply attend-they participate in over 3,500 gaming events including interactive game play, hobby-related events, and computer gaming. Attendees can join in card games, board games, role-playing games, live-action role-playing games, seminars and workshops ranging in topics from how to develop games to how to paint miniatures. Gen Con has over 230 booths from which enthusiasts can learn more about their favorite games and product from companies ranging from the biggest in the business to hot, smaller shops. Often game manufacturers use Gen Con as a stepping stone to display their new games or to run their premier tournaments at. And what would a gaming show be without celebrity appearances. At Gen Con Indy 2004, attendees can meet and interact with Celebrity Guests of Honor, including: David Carradine from TV's "Kung Fu" and the recent hit movie "Kill Bill"Gil Gerard and Erin Gray from TV's "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century"Marc Singer and Tanya Roberts from the movie "Beastmaster" Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict and Herbert Jefferson, Jr., from TV's "Battlestar Galactica"Linda Blair from the movie "The Exorcist" Gen Con Indy will be open to the public Thursday, August 19 through Sunday, August 22 with 24-hour gaming including a computer gaming area. The convention will take place at the Indiana Convention Center, a 620,000 square foot state of the art facility in downtown Indianapolis. Attendees must purchase badges to gain entrance to the show. Badge pre-registration runs from February 16 to July 12, 2004, noon PST. A four-day badge is $60 with pre-registration, or $70 on site. A one-day badge is $23 with pre-registration, or $27 on site. Gen Con is a name that has been one with the gaming world for over 36 years. It began as a meeting between some friends to play games in Lake Geneva, USA - thus the name Gen (Geneva) Con (Convention).
