Take the Which Monty Python & The Holy Grail character are you? Test @ The Monty Python & The Holy Grail Unofficial Fan SiteYou're Sir Bedevere the Wise: you're something of a sage, and people often come to you for scholarly advice. You've been known to make plans that aren't thought out carefully enough, but with your vast knowledge of all things scientific, others Wednesday, March 26, 2003
For the Curious: The SEP field is from the fictional universe of The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy" by Douglas Adams. It is a cheaper alternative to an invisibility field. (And it works on Earth!) The letters stand for "Somebody Else's Problem". The idea is that if you want to stay out of sight, you surround yourself with an SEP field. The party from which you wish to be hidden looks your way, they won't notice you. They are likely to see you, but their minds instantly assert "that's somebody else's problem", and they look beyond you or through you, effectively not seeing you. A SEP field works well on cops if you're speeding but has yet to be scientifically proven. The SEP field was discovered by American philosopher Jim Moran, who went to a cocktail party with a small length of string with one end looped around his ear and the other held in the corner of his mouth. He did not explain or mention the string, and found that nobody else at the party did either. i'm finding it increasingly difficult to be alone - in ANY sense. i feel a gathering. like there is something really important going on in the background - of the war and of the world. there is a deep disturbance that keeps tugging at the edge of my perception. a feeling of "why doesn't everyone feel what's REALLY going on?" It's not a sense of dread per se. More like, can't you see it? papa john's pizza just arrived. pass the garlic sauce! i'm ready with my syringe and a burnt up spoon. someone tie me off.... TIME SLIP Did anyone else feel the time slip this morning between 6:20 and 6:30? I looked out my bedroom window and expected to see birds suspended in the sky. Time literally stopped and I could feel myself moving outside of it. Everything was in shades of their natural color - but it was like someone played with the hue setting on the television. Someone else had to feel this. I could tell that I was not alone in this "space." All Good People Are Asleep and Dreaming another damned moving dream. this revolved mostly around reclaiming a dresser that a former roomate had absconded with. i had to clean out all the drawers - some of them were almost empty to begin with - a lot of wasted space i thought. there wasn't anything symbolic in the drawers and i thought that was odd too. like the left-brain was trying to figure out why i was doing this. then i tried to reclaim the coffee table from our old living room. i always hated that table, but wanted to take it with me anyway. why? i remember at some point i was in this copy/print shop and they were going to make labels for everything that i was trying to move. i decided that i didn't need to label EVERYTHING and left. there was another bit where i was trying to set up a couch, only it was too short to actually sleep on. then i noticed that there was another couch above it, like bunk beds. someone there was welding a framework to it and then attached it to the ceiling. the rest is kind of a blur and details are fading even as i type. i remember moving a blue ratty couch and lucy, fred, and ethel were looking for a lost $20 bill. it was raining the whole time i was trying to move stuff. along the way there was a little girl on a bike moving a large brick church marquee. i couldn't read what it said. i thinks that's most of it. anyone wanna offer an interpretation? It is the general feeling here at work, that no one slept soundly last night. I've heard 3 hrs all around. Is this a terrorist plot? Sleep deprivation? I had nightmares about making mashed potatoes. I was making a mess in the kitchen - while making said potatoes and my hands were wet. when i went to pet my cat he was all mushy like a baked potato and his skin was slipping off. ewwww. Anyone else having a tortured dream time? |
