Hmmm. I wonder where those tapes came from....

You know what is scary? L Ron Hubbard is one of my FAVORITE authors. But I do agree he went a little nuts towards the end. Probably something to do with the stroke he had. I assume he had some sort of advanced arterial sclerosis, which turned his brain to goo. Pity. He was a brilliant author.

Yes, and I agree that Battlefield Earth SUCKED as a movie. But have you read it as a book? It was 1300+ pages, AND YOU CAN'T PUT IT DOWN. It is way too involved to make into a movie. Books are made for people with longer attention spans. Oh well. I have some of his works in .txt format. Email me if you are interested.

Anyone on here who is able to copy a macrovision protected video to a VCD? I also would love to get it in either .avi or DivX format. DivX 5, preferably, as it is Penguin Friendly. If anyone could do this, I would really appreciate it. If you want, I will trade you these for a couple of video tapes that I have. Keeping Up Appearances, and AYBS: The movie. They were previously owned, and in fairly good shape. Except for moderate cat damage....

My cable modem is going to be installed on the 15th, between 1 and 5. I am getting my computer ready now. No phone yet (probably not for a few months), but at least I will be on the internet, to which I will stay connected 24 hours a day... Hoarding food.... With expired currency....

I, too, experienced strange receptions whilst slumbering saturday night. we had all been displaced at work, and moved on to what seemed to be a better company. PG, FC, and MN were there. i was thrilled with my new office because the computer was already set up with a webcam that was shaped like R2D2. i blame FC for that bit. we were supposed to watch the other techs there - they had monitors set up with an extension cable so we could see their screens. somehow this internet service we were working for was part of ameritech. most of the tech work was done via email - we just cut and pasted answers from a central faq. FC was aghast at how large the text files ended up being. he said it was measured in kerabytes. PG was there and we kept jumping from the old opticrap call center and here in lebanon - i think. they had food at the greenwood center that included pickle-vegi pizza and veggie burgers. we visited someone that was doing tech work from their home as well. they had a really strange phone that was motion activated. they sort of bowed to it twice and you could hear the relay in the phone click when someone answered or when they were trying to dial. in the office there was a plush white staircase that went up to nowhere. you could get to my office that way, tho it was on the 1st level. or you could just go around it. same destination. weird. at some point we were all in this auditorium and they kept showing these customer service films. they had nothing to do with our job, but they kept playing them anyway - endlessly.
